Journey Through Ulster County

With over 5.2 million visitors last year Ulster County, located on the west bank of the Hudson River between Manhattan and Albany, is "one of the most affordable and hospitable counties in the Northeast," says Rick Remsnyder, Director of Ulster County Tourism.

Host to a slew of day-trippers and weekender alike, Ulster County has several recreational opportunities that appeal to the entire family. Adds Remsnyder, "couples and families who visit Ulster County enjoy swimming, boating, biking and kayaking together when the weather turns warm." Rock climbing is another popular venture for visitors to the area with over 50,000 climbers from around the world seeking to climb the Mohonk Preserve's climbing cliffs or "Gunks" each year.
