The Best BBQ in New York!

ULSTER COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS in New Paltz, NY 12561

Summer is about outdoor fun and the Hudson Valley RibFest is about the fun of barbequing!

On August 16, August 17 and August 18 2019, the Hudson Valley RibFest, organized by the Highland Rotary Club, is THE place to be for lovers of finger-licking good food in the Northeast. The three-day Hudson Valley RibFest is actually three events in one – a food festival, a music festival, and a sanctioned Barbeque Contest where winners can advance to the national finals in Kansas City!

All who come to the event marvel at the convenient location. The Ulster County Fairgrounds, in New Paltz, New York (only 70 miles north of New York City), offers a park-like setting, with a close–up view of the towering Shawangunk Mountains, the Northeast’s premier destination for rock climbers and hikers. The Highland Rotary Club, supported by an army of over 300 volunteers from local groups, goes out of its way to make folks feel at home, while keeping activities humming for the thousands of visitors who come to the three-day shindig for music, games and good eating.

If you love BBQ ribs and chicken, you are going to love the Hudson Valley

RibFest.  The food festival portion is a family event featuring food and beverages for purchase from independent vendors that include amazing BBQ, roasted sweet corn, hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries, smoothies, lemonade, jerk shrimp and fish, soft pretzels, gourmet nuts, fudge and candy to mention a few of the possibilities.  The contest portion features over 60 teams competing for cash prizes and the title of “Grand Champion” of the Hudson Valley Rib Festival.

Exciting news!  - Fantastic line up of entertainment for the entire family.  The Main Stage entertainment is powered by iHeart Media. The party starts on Friday with great Country music and the best backyard BBQ in New York.

An evening of Country Music starts at 5:15 pm with the premium RibFest Kick-Off country band Thunder Ridge.  Country Music continues as we once again welcome Williams Honor to the stage at 7:30 pm. Make a point see them before they open for Keith Urban in Atlantic City on Saturday night!

Saturday features a mix of classic rock, country and country rock with Crowd Theory at 11:30 am, Mister Kick at 2:00 pm, SPINN at 5:30 pm and then at 7:30 pm get ready for Country Rocker Nikki Briar.

The great music continues on Sunday with a special appearance from 14-year-old local young lady with an amazing voice, Laila Mach at 11:00 am followed by Jennie Angel at 11:45 am, Kolby Oakley and 1:00 PM and Jordan Stoner at 3:00 pm.  Another amazing day of Country!

Additional entertainment includes an outstanding cooking demonstrations lineup and a free Kid’s Korner with kid’s crafts and activities.  We are also featuring a Family Fun Area with inflatable bouncing houses and other activities for the kids. Back by popular demand is the mechanical bull ride.

The New England Barbecue Society grilling contest will be held on Saturday, August 18 that will include an “Apple Dessert” entry. The Hudson Valley’s premier agricultural product is apples, and our teams will have a chance to show what they can do with apples.  Hudson Valley apples must be part of the dessert entry, not merely a garnish. Then, on Sunday, August 19, the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) competition gets smoking with up to 60 teams competing for cash prizes, trophies, bragging rights and a chance to compete in the Kansas City nationals.

The Hudson Valley RibFest is part of the Empire State BBQ Championship Challenge.  Barbeque events throughout New York State are working together to promote great barbeque in New York.  For additional details see visit www.empirestatebbqchampionship.com.
