Franny Reese State Park

This new park features 250 acres of impressive ridgeline just south of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge. A new scenic overlook, opened in 2009, features dramatic views of the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the new Walkway Over the Hudson. The land boasts a broad array of tree species and features carriage trails and stone walls that crisscross the acreage. A trail leads to the property from the Town of Lloyd's Johnson-Iorio Park, located immediately north of the bridge's Ulster County side. The path takes visitors under the bridge and connects them to a carriage trail that accesses the site. Features two-and-a half miles of woodland trails. Impressive ruins of former estate buildings. Hudson River overlook with rustic benches made of native stone. Directions: From parking area, descend stairs and cross under Mid-Hudson Bridge. Trailhead is on the right. Or from the west side of Mid-Hudson Bridge, take Route 9W south for .8 miles, then turn left on Macks Lane. Park entrance is .3 mile on the left.
