Where Slavery Died Hard: The Forgotten History of Ulster County and the Shawangunk Mountains Region

The premier screening of this documentary video delves deeply into the hidden past of Ulster County. It was produced as a step towards fashioning a new and more inclusive narrative about the region’s past, one that acknowledges that for more than 150 years the region was the home of enslaved people and their enslavers and that much visual evidence of their lives and labors survives within the local landscape.
