Visiting Writer Ian Macks Reads at Rough Draft

Troy-based poet Ian Macks will read from his chapbook, "A Loss and Gain of Comfort," as well as new, unpublished material. Ian's writing addresses topics including race relations in New York State, family/generational conflict, PTSD, anxiety, depression, experiences with autism (PDD-NOS), alcoholism, love, loss, and recovery. His reading will be followed by a Q&A/audience discussion. This event is part of Rough Draft's monthly writer's retreat, which aims to bring new and diverse voices to the Hudson Valley and give authors a chance to relax, write, enjoy Kingston, and interact with readers at Rough Draft during a Wednesday evening reading and discussion. Refreshments can be purchased from the bar. (Please, no outside food or beverage.) RSVPs through Eventbrite are not required but are much appreciated. It lets us stay in touch with you in case of event changes, and helps us know how many people to expect. Please note: This event may include mature themes and adult language, and may not be suitable for all ages. ABOUT IAN: Ian Macks is a 26-year old African-American writer from Troy, New York via The Bronx. His writing is a hybrid of poetry and prose that exudes refined vulnerability.
