Sojourner Truth’s Battle Against Slavery and for Women’s Rights Lecture at Klyne-Esopus Museum

The Klyne Esopus Historical Museum, in conjunction with its Three Outstanding Women of Esopus exhibit will present Historian Anne Gordon in lecture on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. Her topic will be Sojourner Truth – Enemy of Slavery, Friend of Women’s Rights. The lecture will be held in the Community Room of Esopus Town Hall, 284 Broadway, Port Ewen. Gordon is past Ulster County Historian, past Town of Esopus Historian, and Ulster County Legislator. She has devoted herself to Sojourner Truth studies and is a frequent speaker on Truth’s life and work. She was a prime mover in creating Sojourner Truth Park on Broadway in Port Ewen. In this lecture Anne will focus on Truth’s early life in Esopus and Ulster County and her later involvement in the Wnen’s Suffragette Movement.
