Preserving Foods Through Fermentation at Seed Song Farm in Kingston

This workshop, will be offered inside the Hoophouse event space at Seed Song Farm in Kingston. Lacto-fermentation is a traditional method of preserving food that increases vitamin and enzyme content and contains probiotics to keep your gut healthy. Joyce White will provide a sampling of fermented products, and lead you in fermenting the season’s harvest. Bring your favorite knife and cutting board. There is a $15 suggested donation for the workshop, but no one will be turned away. Fee includes the vegetables and a quart canning jar to take home your ferment.

Seed Song Farm is a new, chemical-free vegetable, flower, and herb farm located Kingston, New York off Ulster Avenue at 160 Esopus Ave. and accessible by bike, walking and the public bus system.  Additional activities include feeding and petting our sheep, including three lambs, and pick-your-own cherry tomatoes and flower bouquets. Seed Song Farm’s mission is to make available healthy food and farm experiences to all in our community and products are available at weekly pick ups and at local farmer’s markets.
