Introduction to Mold Making with Kelly McGrath

Make a one-part plaster mold. Mold making is a part of everyday life from the mass produced cups and plates in the kitchen cabinet to the complex toys and gadgets we use for play. This class will introduce participants to basic mold terminology and the way that a block mold is constructed. The process of mold making allows manufactures, sculptors, ceramicists and jewelers create multiple creations from an original model. Participants will create a model in clay and then produce a mold around that clay model.  The mold from this class can be used to cast a variety of materials including plaster, clay, paper and wax. Part of Curated Shorts series
