Festival of Scarecrows

The annual Festival of Scarecrows will be held on Saturday, October 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Frog Alley Park, the ruins of the Louw-Bogardus House on Frog Alley, adjacent to the Wiltwyck Fire Station. All are welcome to create and display a scarecrow - we want to see your creativity! Scarecrows must be transported to Frog Alley, so be careful that it is not too big to fit in your vehicle. The basic scarecrow template is two-by-fours nailed together like a cross, enabling you to dress them in pants and a shirt. You can stuff the clothes with straw to give them shape and pop a head and hat on the top. The bottom of the cross should be long enough to sink in the ground so the scarecrow can freely stand. Scarecrows must be set up by 9:15 a.m. the day of the festival and taken down immediately after its 2 p.m. end time. Please contact: scarecrowsatfrogalley@gmail.com by October 9 for additional event details and to sign up. All CDC, State and County Covid-19 event protocols will be observed. The event will be cancelled in case of wind/rain. Also, artwork from local Kingston City School District elementary students will be on display and select farm animals will be visiting from the Forsyth Nature Center.
