Catskills Trout Tales: Trout Unlimited Meeting with Heidi Nue

As part of the Part of the Catskills Trout Tales celebration, join the Ashokan-Pepacton Chapter of Trout Unlimited for a very special monthly meeting, featuring a talk by Heidi Nute. Heidi is the female world-record holder for the largest tarpon caught on a fly, and is an engaging, passionate speaker about fly fishing, and how women can become engaged in the sport. After many years of living in the Florida Keys and managing a world-class tarpon fishing contest with her husband, Paul (now a Trout Unlimited Board member), Heidi has relocated to the Catskills and is bringing her energies to fishing in our mountains.

Heidi caught this 152.8lb tarpon for an IGFA world record in 2014 fishing in the Everglades National Park. It’s the largest documented tarpon a woman has ever caught on regulation fly tackle. She was guided by Captain Tim Mahaffey of Islamorada, Florida.
