“Touch of Rapture” at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills

"“Touch of Rapture,” a new comedy by Fengar Gael, is TheaterSounds’ first production of the new year. A magic, romantic comedy celebrating the love of art and tthe art of love, the play will be performed at The Universalist Unitarian Congregation of the Catskills in Kingston on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

As she lies dying, Quince Dillingham’s wife Clovis clasps his hands, thereby passing to him her artistic gift for sculpting. His wife’s sister recognizes Clovis’ genius now in Quince’s work. At first she threatens to expose him as a thief but then conspires with him. Ultimately the artistic talent is passed to another, as the play explores art as creation versus art as commodity, the relationship of art to character, and the mystery surrounding an artist’s legacy. Marnie Andrews* stars, supported by James Occhino *and Eileen Schuyler*. Jonathan VanGieson directs.
