Time to get ready to catch some big air, downhill or cross-country. Ulster County is a great destination because we offer good elevation, lots of snow making capability, trails for both the beginner and advanced and great shopping in nearby towns. The food is terrific, the rooms are cozy and the atmosphere just right for singles or families.
Don’t spend your time driving. Spend it here. We are alive with winter activities.
Ski Belleayre Mountain
Belleayre Mountain, New York's Winter Snow Park, Highmount, NY
Just a couple of hours from Manhattan, in the middle of land declared ‘forever wild’ by the New York State Forest Preserve in 1885, lies a ski center with steep, rugged inclines, gentle beginners hills and a cozy main lodge with a roaring fireplace.
Belleayre is operated by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), the same organization that manages the United States Winter Olympics Training Facility in Lake Placid, as well as Gore and Whiteface Mountains. Continued improvements to the mountain include the only Catskills Cat-access skiing and snowboarding, the Area 51 terrain park, two progression parks, mogul trails ranging from intermediate to expert bumps and extensive glade skiing. Skier and snowboarder visits have grown from 70,000 in 1995 to more than 175,000 skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. With 55 trails, parks and glades, 8 lifts (including a new magic carpet in the beginners area), Belleayre Mountain has certainly evolved from humble, yet promising beginnings into an efficient and growing organization - perfection in progress.

Other Things To Do:
The quaint, artist’s haven, Woodstock, is within 15 minutes of Belleayre with terrific shopping, galleries, restaurants and night-life. Or make Kingston your base camp where museums, galleries, shopping, theater and more will keep non-skiers busy all day. For those looking for outdoor activity but prefer something less than skiing or boarding try snow tubing at Sawkill Family Ski Center. There’s even an indoor ice arena with skate and hockey equipment rentals at the Kiwanis Ice arena in Saugerties.
