Ink transfer drawing is a simple technique using printers ink rolled onto a flat surface like glass and then placing a blank sheet of paper on top of which becomes the artwork. Markings made with various drawing instruments to create an artwork on one side of the sheet, also transfers the printers ink to the back side of the sheet. Transfer was used by Paul Gauguin and Edgar Degas and is sometimes referred to as monotype.

For the workshop, materials will be provided but the participants will need to bring small sketches to work from. Lynch advises: “Since we will be using oil based ink, a smock would be useful so people won't ruin their clothes.” Free to public. Enrollment Limited. Shout Out Saugerties event.
