Abeel Street will be closed from Route 213 at Wilbur Avenue to Broadway from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. Most side streets will have an alternate way out in the opposite direction of Abeel Street. For those on side streets needing to travel towards Wilbur Avenue, please use Broadway above Spring Street to West O'Reilly Street to Wilbur Avenue.
DeWitt Street and Abeel Street residences will be allowed to exit towards Wilbur Avenue to just before race time 1 p.m. We are hoping to open up DeWitt Street and other area of Abeel Street to allow traffic to exit towards Wilbur Avenue starting at 1:30 p.m. as returning runners clear intersections and opening traffic totally in both directions by 2 p.m.
Downtown Broadway Business District:
Broadway from Abeel Street to Rondout Landing and to Hudson Valley Landing will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with limited local access before noon. We will allow apartments at Hudson Valley Landing to exit their west entrance towards Broadway during the entire event. From noon until approximately 3:30 p.m. there will be no access to return to the apartments until we open up Rondout Landing and East Strand after the race.
Rondout Landing, East Strand, North Street, Abruyn Avenue and East Union:
These streets will be closed 12:45 p.m. to approximately 3 p.m. Many residences will be able to exit towards Delaware Avenue. Blocked intersections will have volunteers and in most cases we will allow traffic to cross when it does not interefere with the runners. Residences on North Street and Abruyn and East Union whre the race takes place, may not have exit capability. We ask that you plan your day and park to avoid being inconvenienced.
We hope all residents will take part in our event by coming out and cheering on the runners or coming down to the main event area and participate with us. Check us out on our website www.kiwaniskingstonclassic.com. If you have any questions, you can contact us through the site.
